actually about a different video, not sure I can ask here, but...watching your one handed backhand videos, the difference between a slice and topspin seems very slight...is it basically the grip a little and swing path a little??

I was always told to think of it as a handshake grip for volleys, don't know why but it always worked for me. Of course then you always adjust to where the ball is, set the racquet and hit thru to target spot on other side of the net. Continental grip is one notch over from a handshake type grip, easy way to tell the difference.

The whippy nature of Alcaraz's swing increase risk of injury in my opinion (I am a chiropractor so know a bit about biomechanics).

Gotta be a little careful when saying Sock hits flat. His swing path is flat/linear, but he actually had one of the highest topspin rates (even more topspin than Nadal). His stroke is similar to Berrettini -- flat/linear swing, but very very high topspin rate. I always like to point out how Berrettini and Sock had flat swing paths but immense topspin to illustrate that topspin is very much dependent on racket head speed through contact and also the use of the wrist.

Did he change his grip then? Just watched the fed documentary and he mentioned Djoko having quite an extreme forehand grip.

Very useful strategy for me as a leisure player among leisure players. I bet it doesn't work as well against more professional players as they wouldn't just moon-ball back. Thank you Ryan for this useful tip🎾

sinner uses semi, djokovic uses a strong sw grip, the bevel next to western. other djokovic clips shows this

I just love how you add trinkets that other pros leave out, like: 3 o'clock for high balls and, Don't finish a winning shot with your eyes. Finish with your legs.

Clearly you are not a qualified coach. It is the biomechanics of using his legs. Legs are stronger than arms. Ball height and circle motion has not scientific proof and there are plenty of tour players who would contradict this. But they all use their legs

Oh man, my wife video tape me, and I was making this exact mistake..I have corrected it, and my serve is better almost immediatley.
